This series contains two audiocassettes. The first, a Field Test Recording of the Holy Communion Liturgy, is a recording of the first setting for the Holy Communion, written by Richard Hillert, a professor at the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Concordia Teachers College at River Forest, Illinois (now Concordia University). The second, produced by the LCMS Commission on Worship, is background information on the Lutheran Book of Worship for delegates to the LCMS 1977 Synodical Convention.

The Rev. Ralph Van Loon was a staff member of the Lutheran Church in America's (LCA) Division for Parish Services (DPS). He was Secretary for Worship and Church Architecture in the DPS Department for Parish Support from 1975 through 1987. He also served as the LCA's Coordinator for Worship.
